This does not exist anymore, but for those of us of a certain age, we share those Saturday morning memories. I have an album of theme songs recorded by 90s bands who watched these cartoons as kids. Here’s a couple I like. (I have to confess a serious love for the Groovy Goolies)

Ad you can’t do it right without a little Butthole Surfers. I still think it is hilarious that Gibby Haynes was an accountant before punk rock lured him away.

And I was sad when my son said Hong Kong Phooey is “kinda racist.” I am not sure that a cartoon dog is racist, but there it is. I loved all these shows as a kid.

Of course, the Wild World of Sports opening meant cartoons were over, so here it is.

We didn’t do Saturday morning cartoons much at my house (no cable and crummy choices on the stations we had reception on) , but there was a period of about a year we were getting up early to watch Rocky & Bullwinkle.

I think you and I are about the same age - a lot of the stuff we watched as kids just wouldn’t fly in today’s world.

I am of that age. I had a weekly saturday-morning cartoon routine. I also had a weekday routine that involved watching the shows deemed not good enough for saturday morning while I ate my breakfast.

Always loved this one from that album. Then again I am biased as Liz is a friend of mine .
